Meet Wil

Wil is our office manager and has been an avid cyclist for about 11 years now. He has been a member of the Delta Pedalers in the Brentwood area for several years. His most challenging ride was cycling up Mt. Tamalpais due to the steep climb. The longest ride he has done was 300 miles in three days, from San Francisco to San Luis Obispo.

He loves talking with our patients who are also cyclists and enjoys recommending sunglasses that are specific for riding. Wil feels that sun protection is so important due to the strong UV, wind, and bugs that can fly into your face. The best glare protection whether it's on the road, in water, or in the snow is polarized lenses.

Protective Sunwear

Sunglasses are more than just a fashion accessory; they are vital for preserving eye health. The eyes are sensitive, and like other body parts, they are susceptible to injury and disease. Quality eyewear is an essential protective tool that can benefit your eyes.

Regular exposure to UV can have profound and cumulative consequences. Wearing high-quality sunglasses when you go outdoors will help prevent eye issues, contributing to better vision. Here is more information on the importance of protective sunwear.

Protection From the Elements

Sunglasses help protect the eyes from the elements. You are exposed to the elements when walking on the beach, skiing down a mountain, or riding on a dirt road. Sun rays, wind, dust, and sand can irritate the eyes or scratch the sensitive cornea, which can cause permanent damage.

Spending hours outdoors without protective eyewear can lead to overexposure to elements that can lead to vision loss.

Prevent Certain Eye Diseases

Prolonged exposure to UV rays can lead to eye conditions such as macular degeneration, cataracts, and pterygium. Macular degeneration is a deterioration of the macula that destroys central vision.

Cataracts cause a clouding of the vision, which leads to blurred vision. Pterygium involves the growth of tissue on the eyeball. Sunglasses with UV protection can help protect the eyes from these and other diseases.
